I Love One Piece and Why Is It A Way of Life
And why you should watch it too.
Do you understand one thing to achieve your dream? Do you ever wonder why somebody can make it all? Everything he wants, he gets it — or maybe everything just comes to him.
The answer is repetitively said by the captain, Monkey D. Luffy. If you’ve watched it and have paid attention, he always said, “Yosh. It’s already decided”.
And from there, he is going to make it happen.
So the secret is:
1. Make a decision
One rule to making a decision is knowing what you want. Then you act towards your want.
It is hard to decide if you are not knowing what you want. So next time you wonder if your decision is worth it, ask yourself, is it that I want?
Now let’s talk about One Piece here. At the beginning of the story and along with the story, repetitively, Luffy as the main character always introduces himself like this, “I am Monkey D. Luffy. I am gonna be The Pirate King.”
He knows what he wants, he knows where he is going.
So ask yourself, “What is it that you want?”
It’s not easy to figure out what we want. However, the approach to answering “I don’t know what I want”, is to study yourself. What do you like, what do you love?
2. Act only towards what you want
After we know what we want, the rest will be easy. Why? Because we already know what we want. Everything that stands in our way, we know we just need to cut it off.
It’s not easy to do so if we don’t know what we want. We can be out off track or lost. Do like what Luffy always did. Everything that blocks his way to becoming The King of Pirate will straight get kicked in. He isn’t afraid. Doesn’t self-doubting himself.
And the interesting part is we won’t regret our decision if it turns bad. Instead, we take full responsibility since it’s what we want.
3. Don’t have doubts
Believe in yourself. You believe in yourself is your greatest asset to your dream. It won’t likely so if you doubt yourself.
In the anime, even Luffy got strength and more confidence in his dreams. Because along the journey to be The Pirate King, actually he encounters a lot of people, and few that believe in themselves to go to their dreams.
And if others laugh at your dream, don’t stop. You have to follow your dreams before it fades away. Like Elon Musk said,
Most people will panic to find a charger before their phone dies. But won’t panic to find a plan before their dream dies.
If you only have that one friend who believes in you, please just borrow that belief.
4. Friends for life, aka Nakama.
Friends are needed. Your journey towards your dream is boring without them. Even when your dream comes true, you still need friends for the rest of your life. What is getting older without reminiscing youth with our friends?
Keep in mind, friends should have the same vision as you. It will be easy to make a decision based on the same vision, so you won’t hurt your friends and we got each other back.
I saw it in One Piece many times. Friends turn to be rival and rival turns to be friends because of the vision. Even we put trust in new people that have the same vision, we are going to help and support them without being asked.
What will happen if we don't have the same vision? Your friend will feel betrayed. Your friend will leave you, and you are left alone. Both lose. Now we are going to make a new friend again. But now we start from experience, is to look for loyal friends with the same values.
